Who is Dolphia Parker?
Dolphia Lee Parker Blocker is the wife of Dan Blocker. Her husband, Dan Blocker, was an American actor who famously played the role of Hoss Cartwright in the NBC Western TV series Bonanza. In addition to his acting career, he also served as a US soldier in the Korea.
Dolphia Parker and Dan Blocker: How did the couple meet?
The two, Dolphia and Dan met while they were both studying at Sul Ross State University in Alphine, Texas. The two gradually grew fond of each other and a romantic relationship soon started.

Eventually, on the 25th of August, 1952, Dan Blocker got married to Dolphia Parker. Their marriage lasted 20 years until the painful death of Dan in May of 1972.
Dolphia Parker was only 20 years of age when she got married to Dan Blocker. Their sweet legally binding relationship lasted for 20 wonderful joy-filled years until Dan Blocker passed away. At 40 years of age, Dolphia became a widow.
Despite becoming a widow at such a relatively young age, Dolphia chose not to remarry and dedicated her whole life to catering for the well being of her kids.

Dan Blocker and his wife Dolphia Parker were proud parents of 4 lovey children. Their children namely are;

- Danna Lynn
Dirk Blocker went on to follow in his path of his famous father. He became an Hollywood actor and he brought in a lot of fame.
On the other hand, his immediate brother, David Blocker also made a career for himself in Hollywood. He became a movie producer and director. One of his major success is winning a 1998 Emmy for his movie production work on Don King: Only in America.
The remaining children of Dolphia Parker and Dan Blocker are the twins: Debra Lee and Danna Lynn. Debra took one of her mother’s maiden name (Lee) and enjoys medium success as an artist. Not much is known about the occupation of her twin, Danna.

Dan Blocker’s Movie Career
On May 13, 1972, following gallbladder surgery, Dolphia Parker’s husband, Blocker died of pulmonary embolism. His death occured in Los Angeles at Daniel Freeman Hospital. He was aged 43.
One newspaper at the time described his death detailedly saying: “Blocker went into the hospital for gall bladder surgery, developed a blood clot in his lung, and died”.
The scriptwriters of Bonanza paid tribute to his death by referencing his death in the show’s storyline in the autumn of 1972. A 2011 report added that “this was to be the first time in television history that a show had dealt with, or even mentioned, the death of one of its characters”. Specifics as to how he died were not discussed in the series, but some years later, in a subsequent series, Bonanza: The Next Generation one character stated that “Hoss drowned trying to save another man’s life”.
Dan Blocker Burial Site
Dan Blocker is buried in Woodmen Cemetery in De Kalb, Texas. The common graveyard is home to many people.
Next to Dan’s grave are those of his father, his mother and his sister who passed away before his own death.
Today, the Blocker family continues to ring bells in our heads as the name is still an household name in Hollywood. This is thanks to Dolphia Parker’s two sons: Dirk and David Blocker who are actor and producer respectfully. It remains a matter of sure hope that the two would do greater things than their father, Dan, did in the American film industry before he died.
